Estimated Time: 1.75 - 2.25 hours

The supporting lesson plan and activities are designed to develop an understanding of what the internet and why it's important to be safe online as well as creating connection and recognition with the Hector's World characters.

The lesson plan can be spaced out over several sessions or could be used to create a topic focus for one full day.

By the end of the lesson, ākonga will be able to:

Identify Hector and his friends and talk about their personalities and interests.
Describe why we need to be safe online.
Explain what the internet and the World Wide Web is.

The lesson plan includes a variety of activities. some of which are provided as individual resources, providing flexibility for you to 'pick and mix' the resources best suited to your needs. A summary of the individual resources is provided below.
