We know that school leadership teams are often looking for ways to connect with their parents and caregivers about important topics, and this is especially true of online safety.

By proactively offering a pre-planned series of online sessions we can achieve more - we can reach more parents and caregivers more often, and we can create topic-focused webinars enabling us to dive deeper into the issues and content that matter - giving parents the freedom to pick and choose their attendance the sessions that resonate with them.

We hope these webinar sessions will make it easier for you to coordinate and communicate a valuable service for your parent community, ultimately creating strong engagement with these important topics and issues.

Understanding Cyberbullying

What Teens Really Say About Being Online

Join Karla Sanders as she shares insights from her recent roadshow around the motu, facilitating youth workshops to better understand what young people are doing online.

Too often, there is an assumption that all teens are using the same platforms in the same ways, or that their experiences are predictable based on gender or age. The roadshow was designed to test this and to surface a more complex and accurate picture of how young people actually spend their time online.

Karla will share key findings from the roadshow, and there will be time for Q&A.

The online world is a big part of our children’s lives – offering amazing opportunities to connect, learn, and play. But it can also bring challenges, including cyberbullying and other forms of online harm.

In support of Child Safeguarding Week, Netsafe is hosting a free webinar for parents and whānau of children aged 12-16. The goal is to provide practical ideas to help you support your child to have safer, more positive online experiences (and manage issues if they happen).

In this session, we’ll cover:

• What cyberbullying and online harm can look like for young people

• How to use platform settings/tools to help protect your child

• Options for what to do if something goes wrong online

• Where to find help, advice, and support

There will also be time to ask questions in a relaxed, supportive environment.
